Red Sun Rising Perform at Warehouse Live on April 14

Red Sun Rising will be embarking on a headlining tour that will reach Houston's Warehouse Live on Sunday, April 14. Opening acts on the show are Goodbye June and Dirty Honey. Red Sun Rising is touring in support of their new EP, "Peel." The four-track Peel EP features new versions of three songs from the band's last two albums, Thread and Polyester Zeal, along with a cover of The Beach Boys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice." The track listing for "Peel" is "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "Left for Dead," "The Otherside," and "Blister."

"We tour so we can play our music live," Red Sun Rising says. "By doing so, we can create something real right in front of you every single night. There's a thrill to it; an exploration of new arrangements to pump fresh blood into the set. That's what 'The Peel Tour' is all about. Creating and re-creating. The core is the same of you just peel back the new layers."

Red Sun Rising's last full length album was 2018's "Thread." It was released on March 30, 2018 by Razor & Tie. The album reached number 21 on the US Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart and spawned six singles (three official and three promotional): "Deathwish", "Veins", "Lonely Girl", "Fascination", "Left for Dead" and "Stealing Life".

Their singles "The Otherside" and "Emotionless" both reached number 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart, making them the first band since Trapt to reach number 1 twice on their first album. Their third single "Amnesia" peaked at number 6 on the same chart. The band often uses the hashtag #WeAreThread, which is said to be the name of the genre of music they would like to represent. They explain that their influences are like threads in a fabric and they feel they cannot truly be described as one particular genre

Jay H. Goriana from Blabbermouth.net gave the band credit for expanding their sound by creating "soothing, feel good alt rock songs" with a more polished production while also displaying their darker side on tracks like "Evil Like You" and "Lonely Girl", concluding that "Invariably, the group naturally shifts into a gear that's undeniably catchy and uplifting. Through and through, Red Sun Rising is continuing to prove its one of rock's new stars."

Chad Childers of Loudwire also praised the production work by Matt Hyde and Jay Ruston for providing "a more fleshed-out presentation" of the band that traverses from "melodic gems ("Left for Dead", "Veins")" to tracks that contain a sinister edge ("Fascination", "Deathwish"), saying that Red Sun Rising have "seized the day on Thread, which continues to show promise for a band bringing a little something different to the rock radio world."

A powerful, melodic hard rock band combining a forceful guitar attack with emotional, anthemic vocals, Red Sun Rising were formed in Akron, Ohio by vocalist and guitarist Mike Protich and guitarist Ryan Williams, who curiously went to the same high school and lived within a mile of one another for over a decade without ever meeting. In 2006, the two finally crossed paths at a gas station and struck up a conversation about music. It wasn't long before Protich and Williams were writing songs together; in 2007, they put together the first edition of Red Sun Rising and began playing local gigs. The band earned a reputation for hard work and a strong live show, and began to find its true voice in 2011 when guitarist Tyler Valendza, whose interplay with Williams brought new strength to the group's sound, joined the lineup. By 2013, Red Sun Rising had self-released two independent albums, Red Sun Rising and The Making of Kings, and they used their website and social media pages to give new listeners a chance to preview their recordings. The strategy helped them develop a strong fan base, and they played frequently in the Midwest as well as setting out on nationwide tours. In 2014, Red Sun Rising -- now working with bassist Ricky Miller and drummer Pat Gerasia -- signed with well-established indie label Razor & Tie Records, and in early 2015 they returned to the studio with producer Bob Marlette. The group's first album for Razor & Tie, Polyester Zeal, was released in August 2015 and debuted at number 11 on the Billboard Hard Rock album chart, with the singles "The Otherside" and "Emotionless" hitting number one on the Mainstream Rock chart. In 2018, the band issued their sophomore effort, Thread, again via Razor & Tie.
